Implant Dentistry Unveiled: All-on-X Solution

Dental implants are an excellent way to replace missing teeth and restore your smile. The All-on-X solution is one option with several key benefits.

What Is All-on-X?

All-on-X is a form of implant dentistry that replaces a full set of teeth with only a few implants, usually four or six. Your dentist places posts on your upper or lower jaw at specific points and attaches artificial teeth for a natural-looking permanent set of teeth. The procedure is sometimes known as the trademarked name All-on-4 or All-on-6.

What Are the Benefits of All-on-X?

All-on-X implants have several benefits, including permanent tooth replacement with less invasive procedures, a natural appearance, better stability and comfort, and improved oral health.

Fewer Implants

The All-on-X procedure uses fewer implants than other solutions, making it less invasive and more cost-effective. With fewer implants, recovery after surgery may be less intense. All-on-X is also a good option if you already have some bone loss.

Natural Appearance

Unlike traditional dentures that cause bone loss and a sunken appearance, All-on-X dental implants help keep your bone structure healthy and your smile intact. Your dentist takes impressions to create precise teeth that fit your bone and facial structure with a color that matches your skin for a healthy, vibrant, and natural-looking smile.

Stability and Comfort

Traditional dentures sit on the ridge of your jaw, where they rub and cause discomfort and bone loss over time. Dental implants, on the other hand, offer more stability and comfort.

All-on-X dental implants can last a lifetime with proper care and regular dental checkups. Your jawbone seals around the implant, creating a strong foundation to stabilize your jaw and facial structure and hold your teeth in place. The artificial teeth are also made with durable materials that can withstand the wear and tear of normal chewing functions.

Improved Oral Health

Implants mimic natural teeth, preventing bone loss through nerve and jaw stimulation. They help you chew and speak normally and don’t require extensive maintenance like traditional dentures. Plus, without the moving and rubbing like conventional dentures, your gums and tissues stay in better shape with less discomfort.

How Does All-on-X Work?

The All-on-X procedure takes a few appointments. Once you receive your permanent teeth, you’ll need to follow up once a year to check your teeth and gums.

Consultation and Exam

The procedure starts with a consultation and exam. All-on-X implants may not be right for everyone, so your dentist will assess your health and teeth. Once approved, you’ll have digital X-rays and scans to plan your treatment and create your temporary and final teeth.

Implant Procedure

A surgeon will place implants into your jaw via oral surgery. You may have some swelling and discomfo++rt after surgery, which will improve within a week. You’ll wear a temporary set of teeth until your implants fully integrate with your bone and your jaw heals.

Permanent Teeth Placement

Once your jaw heals, you’ll receive permanent teeth, usually about six months after implant surgery. This procedure may be another minor surgery and often takes about an hour, and you may need a few follow-ups to adjust the crowns.
